Showit SEO: how to get a beautiful Showit site found on Google

Showit gives you total design freedom, which is exactly why search engines can miss your best work. Here's what to change, click by click, inside the Showit editor.

The short answer

Showit SEO means giving each Showit page real text, a page title and description, proper heading levels and readable images, because Showit's canvas turns much of a design into pictures. Set titles and descriptions in Settings, use Text blocks instead of text-in-images, and write your blog posts in the linked WordPress blog.

Showit is the favourite of photographers, coaches and designers for one very good reason: you can place anything anywhere. That same freedom is why Showit sites so often look stunning and still sit on page three of Google.

Search engines and AI assistants do not see your layout. They read text, headings and a handful of settings. Showit SEO is simply making sure those exist on every page — and it is nearly all done inside the Showit editor.

1. Set a page title and description on every page

In Showit, click the page name in the left panel, then open Settings. You will find Page Title and Page Description. This is the single highest-impact change on most Showit sites, because the default is often just your business name.

  • Page title: your service and your city, under 60 characters — 'Wedding photographer in Boise, Idaho | Jane Doe'.
  • Description: one sentence you would actually say, under 160 characters.
  • Every page gets its own. Duplicated titles across pages tell Google the pages are interchangeable.
  • Do the same for each mobile view — Showit keeps desktop and mobile as separate canvases.

2. Use Text blocks, not text inside images

It is tempting to design a gorgeous headline in Photoshop and drop it in as a PNG. Google cannot read a single word of it, and neither can ChatGPT. Anything that matters — your service, your location, your offer — belongs in a Showit Text block.

3. Fix your heading levels

Select any text block and open the Text panel; the 'Tag' setting controls whether it is an H1, H2 or plain paragraph. Showit does not set these for you based on size, so many sites end up with no H1 at all.

  • One H1 per page, describing that page only.
  • H2 for each section below it.
  • Never choose a heading tag just because you like the size — style it separately.

4. Give every image alt text and a sensible file name

Showit sites are image-heavy by nature. Click an image, open the Image panel and fill in the Alt Text field with a plain description: 'Bride and groom on the Boise foothills at sunset'. Rename files before uploading too — DSC_4821.jpg tells Google nothing.

5. Write your blog posts in the WordPress side

Showit blogs run on a linked WordPress installation. That is good news: your posts are real text with real headings, which is exactly what search engines and AI assistants want. Publish your longer, question-answering content there and link to it from your Showit pages.

6. Check what Showit is telling crawlers

Showit handles your sitemap and robots file for you, but it is worth confirming your site is not hidden. In Showit's site settings, make sure search engine indexing is switched on — sites built in a hurry are sometimes left blocked after launch.

A short Showit SEO checklist

  • Unique page title and description on every page, desktop and mobile.
  • One H1 per page, H2s for sections.
  • Key words in Text blocks, never in image files.
  • Alt text on every meaningful image.
  • Longer answers published on the WordPress blog.
  • Indexing switched on, and a claimed Google Business Profile.
